Anza-Borrego State Park, CA - March 2005
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park : The weather was wonderful (especially compared to the rain we left behind on our drive) and the scenery was very cool. We first went to the visitor's center which wasn't all that good, but it did have bathrooms. We quickly rejected the short plant walk outside the visitor's center as it looked a bit dull, and headed out into the open desert :)

Some random facts:
I got some cactus prickles in my trousers while taking these photos. After you remove the prickles they will continue to itch for about an hour.
The sandwich shop/cafe in Borrego Springs (at "The Mall") makes a very good turkey wrap, but the staff aren't very friendly. Still... it's a good wrap so it's worth stopping by :)

Driving down the road into Borrego Springs. (8% grade or something like that)

Welcome to Anza-Borrego! The folks at the park recommend you take lots of water with you when you go walking.

Leaving the car park and entering the desert.

Very nice scenery.

Bringing water is key to hiking in a desert.

Somewhere back there is the goal of the trail.. A canyon of some kind I think. We didn't go that far :)
